Self Care Tip for Shoulders

Pain and stiffness in the upper shoulders can be tricky to address. There are plenty of stretches that may be helpful, but one of my favourite tricks is to use a rubber ball to massage this area.

Here’s how:

You’ll need a rubber ball and a space on the corner of a wall. Bend at the hips and bring your shoulder toward the wall. Place the ball on the top of your shoulder – between it and the wall. Now lean your body (gently) towards the wall, pressing your shoulder into the ball.

Let your arms relax and hang down. Breathe deeply. You can spend a short amount of time like this, or add in some movement. I like to swing my arm (same side as the shoulder you are working on) very gently, or move my head just a little bit. Take a moment to notice how you feel after you’ve finished.
